The 45th Annual General Meeting of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd was held at 9:30 a.m. on March 15, 2007. A large number of Members attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Md. Abdullah Bokhari, President of the Exchange. The members present unanimously approved the Board of Directors report, the audited accounts and the auditor's reports for the year 2005-2006 and adopted four newly elected Directors Mr. Abdul Haque, Mr. Md. Rakibur Rahman, Mr. M.A. Quayum and Mr. Md. Hanif Bhuiyan in place of Mr. Md. Shahiq Khan, Mr.A.S. Shahudul Huque, Mr. Md. Shakil Rizvi and Mr. Md. Shahajahan. Newly elected Director Mr Rakibur Rahman remembered the contribution of all persons who contributed in the allocation of four bigha of land at Dhaka's Nikunja in 1997. He urged all Members of the DSE to complete the construction of DSE Tower within next three years. Member Mr Anwar Hossain said investors should remain aware on the developments of the stock market, specially the performance of Z-category companies. He requested the DSE Board to bring out a mechanism so that the worst performing companies under the Z-category improve their performance to attract more investors in the stock market. At present, 97 issues out of a total 318 are under the Z-category. Mr MA Momen, Chairman of Surma Securities Holding Co Ltd, Mr AKM Shamsuddoha, Managing Director of Doha Securities Ltd and Mr Khandaker Asadul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of IDLC Securities Ltd also spoke on the occasion.
