A four-member delegation of London-based Emerging Markets Group (EMG) visited the Dhaka
Stock Exchange (DSE) on January 19,2006. The EMG is working in a project titled 'Designing
the Financial Reporting Council of Bangladesh'. Professor Ian FY Marrian MA CA led the
delegation. The other members were Legal Expert Mr. Lewis Mendelson, Institutional Development
Expert Mr. Keith Cornish BA FCA and EMG Project Co-ordinator Mr. Anwaruddin Chowdhury. They
later held a courtesy meeting with DSE President Mr. Md. Shahiq Khan and Chief Executive
Officer Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed Khan. Welcoming the delegation members, the DSE President
expressed his optimism that a Financial Reporting Council (FRC) will be established as early
as possible to bring more transparency and accountability in the country's corporate sector.
The DSE CEO presented an overview on the country's main Stock Exchange before the delegation
members. The delegation members were also apprised of different operational aspects of DSE.
